Fashion Tech: why invest in digital in Italy It is well known that fashion is popular in Italy. We knew that the development of new technologies is a fact even before. But who knows that the development of fashion tech resulted in a +25% in 2016 compared to the previous year? It's like this: the Netcomm-Politecnico di Milano B2C e-Commerce Observatory has estimated a turnover of 1.8 billion euros, with an increase of 365 million euros compared to 2015. Obviously retail is king , but even upstream of the production chain we are starting to think more and more "digitally": Production and Research and Development are in fact the sectors in which we have invested the most. And so in the first months of 2016, 440 million euros were raised for European and especially Israeli companies that want to invest in fashion.
And here is the San Paolo StartUp Initiative, an international acceleration platform, which has dedicated a single cluster to fashion tech. That this is the sector of the future is also demonstrated by the commitment of H&M, which since 2015 has launched the Global Change Award, a competition between fashion startups with innovative and eco-sustainable projects. Because fashion doesn't wait, and whoever stops is lost! And even Coco Chanel or Christian Dior would think this way. The world of fashion is full of examples in which innovation has been achieved in the past, and it still remains a sector in which creativity and innovation can be expressed, which have always been the founding pillars of economic development.
